At Rebel Paws Dog Training, we specialise in science-based, positive reinforcement training methods designed to strengthen the connection between you and your dog. Our approach is centred around being mindful, present and engaged, helping you and your dog better understand one another and build a relationship based on trust, communication and cooperation.
Founded by Tarl, Rebel Paws grew from a lifelong passion for animals and a unique background in animal care and training. With both of his parents working in the zoo industry, animals have always been a huge part of Tarl’s life. His passion for training truly began in 2009 while working at London Zoo, where he discovered just how powerful positive, thoughtful communication can be when working with animals.
Since then, Tarl has had the opportunity to work with and train a wide variety of animals across Australia and overseas, including at London Zoo, Tasikoki Wildlife Rescue Centre in Indonesia, Melbourne Museum and Ballarat Wildlife Park.
Throughout his career, Tarl has always shared a particularly special bond with dogs. After stepping away from the zoo industry, he began noticing a growing communication gap between people and their companion dogs. Dogs were often being misunderstood, while their humans were struggling to understand what their dogs were trying to communicate.
That realisation became the inspiration for Rebel Paws.
Tarl created Rebel Paws with a simple vision: to give people and their dogs the tools to understand each other again.
Through positive, science-based training, Rebel Paws aims to help dogs and their humans build stronger communication, greater confidence and a deeper connection — creating happy, well-supported lives together.
Because training isn't just about teaching a dog what to do.
It's about learning how to understand each other.
